Pilates For Your Body

There are so many benefits of Pilates. These include a stronger healthier back, a straighter spine and easier, fuller movement.

Another of these is working towards a flatter stomach. With the New Year on the horizon you might be starting to think about resolutions.

Make Pilates one of your resolutions and join Purely Pilates North East for a Pilates class.

Back Pain Management

photo-1514672013381-c6d0df1c8b18Are you one of the 80% of the adult population in this country who suffers from back pain?

Back issues are one of the most common reasons why people take time off work. Back pain also impacts your day to day life, distressing your movement and frustrating the individual as the quality of life suffers.

Gentle, effective exercise, delivered by a trained professional can often help with the pain associated with back issues, proving management and prevention.

Pilates can help. If you have back problems and haven’t yet tried Pilates to help with them, give Jakki a call on 07778 315 787 or 0191 536 6251 to book a class.

Pilates & Ankylosing Spondylitis

We’ve recently seen an article discussing research looking into Pilates for people with Ankylosing Spondylitis.

AS is a long-term condition in which the spine and other areas of the body become inflamed. It causes chronic pain and lifelong physical disability.

Whilst treatment is available to relieve the symptoms and help prevent or delay its progression, Pilates has never really been studied with a connection to helping AS, until now.

The one year study delivered findings that “indicate considerable improvements in all outcome measures in response to the intervention, confirming that exercises based on the Pilates method could be a useful component of treatment for AS patients.”

“The improvements in physical and functional capacity noted in the AS patients completing this pilot study confirm that Pilates training is a therapeutic option that warrants further investigation.”

We think this is great news and hopefully further studies with Pilates will help those suffering with AS.
